Give A Kid A Coat kicks off
HIGH POINT, N.C. — Give A Kid A Coat, an annual program that solicits coat donations from area residents to donate to children and adults in need across the Piedmont Triad, kicks off its 26th campaign from 4:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19.
The kick off will be held at the A Cleaner World located at 2527 Eastchester Drive in High Point. FOX8 WGHP and 107.5 KZL will both broadcast live during the event.
Hardee’s, Carter Brothers and Chick-fil-A will provide breakfast to those who donate coats. The Salvation Army will also serve hot chocolate and coffee.
“Small children’s coats are always in short supply each year, but The Salvation Army can use coats of all sizes,” Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World, said.
Anyone wishing to contribute to the 2012 Give A Kid A Coat campaign may do so by dropping off a coat at any A Cleaner World location beginning Friday. The collection period will end Saturday, Nov. 24.
Coats will be cleaned and repaired free-of-charge before being given to The Salvation Army for distribution.
Last year, Give A Kid A Coat collected, cleaned and distributed 23,185 coats. Since its inception in 1987, the campaign has collected, cleaned and distributed 746,412 coats.
