Body found in creek on Appalachian State University’s campus

BOONE, N.C. — Officials said the body of an Appalachian State University student was found on ASU’s campus Saturday morning in Boone.

The Watauga Democrat reported that the body of Tyler Blalock, 19, of Charlotte, was pulled from Kraut Creek, according to the university. A passerby reportedly found his body shortly before 8 a.m. in Durham Park.

A school official said Blalock was a sophomore studying sustainable development.

The university has not released a cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
