Police search for assault suspect in High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Police are searching for a man who they believe was involved in an assault Sunday evening in High Point. 

Police told FOX8’s Carter Coyle the suspect ran from the scene of the incident before knocking on a resident’s door on River Road.  The resident called 911 to report the person as suspicious when he got inside a car and drove away, police said. 

Deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop the suspect vehicle sometime before 10:45 p.m. on Business 85, but the suspect jumped out of the car and ran away, police said. 

As of last update, deputies were attempting to locate the suspect with a K-9 unit. 

No ample suspect description was available. 

No other details about the alleged assault were provided.
