WALKERTOWN, N.C. — Officials said a car crashed into a house after the driver fell asleep and overcorrected her steering Monday morning in Walkertown.

A car driven by Maria Ines Munez of Walkertown, traveling east on Old Hollow Road around 8:45 a.m., ran into the ditch on the south side of the road after Munez fell asleep, Trooper David Stuart said.

Carolyn Shoemaker lives on the north side of Old Hollow Road just west of Walkertown and said she was in her living room when she heard “a big loud bang.”

No injuries were reported. Stuart said Munez was charged with having no operator’s license and with failure to maintain lane control.
