ROWAN CO., N.C. — Deputies said a man was arrested for buying car parts from a Rowan County business with counterfeit money.

Milton McKnight is accused of giving several counterfeit 50 and 100 dollar bills to Matlock’s Used Cars and Parts in Cleveland and LKQ Auto Parts Business in Salisbury during August.

Rowan County officials said they made contact with investigators and the U.S. Secret Service who determined McKnight had passed the bills.

Investigators said they issued a search warrant and found counterfeit money in McKnight’s possession that matched the bills passed in Rowan County.

Authorities said McKnight was arrested on four counts of obtaining property by false pretense. He was placed in the Mecklenburg County Jail under $ 15,000 secured bond.
