Surry Co. woman charged with stealing checks from elderly

SURRY CO., N.C. — A Lowgap woman is accused of stealing checks from the elderly and cashing them at banks in Hillsville.

The Mount Airy News reported that Sgt. James Alderman with the Hillsville Police Department arrested Vickie Haynes Sizemore Tuesday on warrants for forgery, uttering, and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Sizemore allegedly stole a local elderly person’s checks and cashing them at banks in the town of Hillsville.

Sizemore was allegedly employed as an aide for the second elderly person, and took Sizemore into custody without incident on the Hillsville warrants.
