Man struck and killed by train near Mebane

MEBANE, N.C. — Officials told WTVD a man was struck and killed by a freight train around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident happened near U.S. 70 between Mebane and Efland.

The man was not immediately identified.

NBC17 reported the train is owned by Norfolk Southern freight.

The area was blocked off as crews worked the scene.

No other information was provided.
