Overnight storms cause hundreds of power outages in Wilkesboro

WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — More than 300 power outages and several downed trees were reported after overnight storms in Wilkes County. 

Duke Energy reported about 1,000 power outages in Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro around 4:30 a.m., but the outages were reduced to about 300 as of 7:30 a.m. 

As a result of the outages, Tyson Foods in Wilkesboro reported it would change some of its first shifts for workers.
