SALISBURY, N.C. — A North Carolina produce supplier has expanded its recent recall of Athena cantaloupes sold in the Piedmont Triad on Thursday.

Burch Equipment LLC, North Carolina previously announced a recall of Athena cantaloupes because the product may contain listeria monocytogenes. Today the company expanded its recall to include additional cantaloupes.

Anyone who has purchased a Burch Farm’ cantaloupe with a red sticker that reads “Cantaloupe PLU 4319,” is asked to dispose of the melon.

Customers can then return the sticker to their local Food Lion for a full refund.

Stores across the Piedmont Triad are affected by the recall, for a full listing Food Lion Recall: Cantaloupe’s.
