HIGH POINT, N.C. — Steve Langley, a juggler, comedian and the self proclaimed “Paddle Ball King” is aiming to set the world record for the largest paddle ball during an event at the High Point Museum next month.

On August 4th, Langley will bring his 9-foot paddle ball and hopefully set the official world record for the world’s largest paddle ball.

The world record attempt will be documented and sent to Guinness for official documentation.

This is a new record attempt, according to Langley. When a new record is attempted, Guinness says the record for a “world’s largest” item must be at least 10-times the original size.

The original paddle ball toy was manufactured in High Point at the old Fly Back Toy Co. factory in the 1930s.

The event on August 4th starts at 12 p.m. The world record attempt will take place around 1 p.m.

The High Point Museum, located at 1859 E. Lexington Ave., is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 am to 4:30 pm and the Historic Park is open Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free.
