Woman dies in Mayodan house fire

MAYODAN, N.C. — One woman is dead after a house fire Saturday in Mayodan.

Officials said the blaze occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a home on South Fourth Avenue.

Authorities said the woman was in her 60s and in a wheelchair and was trapped inside. Officials said she died after crews were unable get to her.

Authorities said the fire’s cause is still under investigation. Officials said five fire departments were on the scene.
