Man drowns along Ocracoke Island
OCRACOKE, N.C. — A spokeswoman for Hyde County said a man has drowned Friday night along Ocracoke Island.
County spokesman Jamie Carter said emergency officials got the call about 5 p.m. She said the man drowned on the north end of the island, which is part of North Carolina’s Outer Banks.
Several emergency providers responded, including EMS, the sheriff’s office, the National Park Service and the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department.
No other details were immediately available.
