Police: Drugs seized after man smokes marijuana on moped

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police said a man driving a moped the wrong way while smoking marijuana Saturday night in Winston-Salem led to thousands of dollars in drugs being seized.
Randy Adam Howard, 42, of Winston-Salem, was allegedly driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street without a helmet around 7 p.m. when he was pulled over behind his home at 2505 N. Patterson Avenue.
Officers said he was smoking marijuana when he was pulled over. Police said they saw a marijuana growing operation on the property line of 2505 and 2509 N. Patterson Avenue.
Police said 36 marijuana plants valued at $90,000, 1 and a half ounces of marijuana valued at $300 and $1,000 in currency and paraphernalia were seized after warrants were obtained.
Police said Micah Rashad Hughes, 26, lived at 2509 N. Patterson Avenue. Both Howard and Hughes were arrested.
Howard was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for purposes of drug activity.
Hughes was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Howard received a $2,500 secured bond and Hughes a $1,000 secured bond. Hughes has court planned for July 30.
