KING, N.C. — The popular Town & Country Restaurant in King will open for business this week for the first time in more than a year.

The restaurant, which has been a local fixture for close to four decades, will open for lunch Thursday, restaurant co-owner John Vlasis told the Winston-Salem Journal.

The restaurant has been closed since May 2010, when an electrical fire gutted the inside of the business.

Vlasis said he and George Moutos, his cousin who has co-owned the restaurant with Vlasis for about 25 years, were dedicated to reopening the eatery despite the massive damage.

Deanne Moore, executive director of the King Chamber of Commerce, told the paper they’ve received phone calls for the past six months from people wondering when the restaurant would reopen.
