GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After 20 years, Jack Murphy is out at 107.5 WKZL.
Murphy confirmed the news on Monday. He was host of the 'Murphy In The Morning Show.' His last day at the station was Friday.
"All great things come to an end at some point. We had a great 20 year run, which is unheard of in this business," Murphy said.
Murphy said his departure was not his decision.
"I think they just decided to go in another direction with their show and with the station," said Murphy.
Murphy said he will continue doing voice over work for over 50 stations across the country, but says he'll miss interacting with triad listeners. "In this business, you rarely, if ever, get an opportunity to say goodbye to your listeners. I would've really liked an opportunity to do that."
Murphy said he would also miss contributing to the community with his charity.
WKZL’s General Manager Bruce Wheeler was unavailable for comment.
The new morning show titled “The ‘KZL Morning Show with Jared, Katie and Whitney,” aired on Monday.
A Facebook group that was started on Monday morning in response to Murphy’s absence from the air ways, complimented the longtime co-hosts left in charge, but stated its goal was to "Bring Jack Back to KZL."
