PFAFFTOWN, N.C. — Rescuers responded to a rural Forsyth County roadway Thursday afternoon after the driver of a combine harvester became trapped by a set of low-hanging power lines.

EMS dispatched to 6459 Balsom Road near Seward Road in Pfafftown around 12:45 p.m.

Firefighters said a man was driving the combine harvester on Balsom Road when it became tangled in a set of low-hanging power lines.

The man is was unable to safely exit the combine due to the downed power lines for more than an hour before Duke Power crews arrived to cut power to the lines.

The man was not injured.

The power lines also sparked a small brush fire, but the fire itself did not threaten the man and was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.

Firefighters said the power lines may have been hanging low due to hot weather, which sometimes causes lines to sag.
