CORNELIUS, N.C. — Officials said two Winston-Salem men were arrested after a pedestrian was killed in a traffic wreck Saturday morning in Cornelius.

WSOC reported that Jacob Andrew Kost, 23, and Jason Edward Shaw, 21, were arrested after Kevin Andrew Sweet was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The wreck reportedly occurred in the early morning hours in the 20200 block of Bethel Church Road. Police said Kost was the driver and Shaw was the passenger.

Police said Sweet was walking along the road when he was hit.

Kost was charged with first degree murder, hit and run, driving while impaired and driving with a revoked license and Shaw with accessory to murder.

Police said they found the suspects in a nearby neighborhood after witnesses gave them a description of their vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
