LEXINGTON, N.C. –According to state DOT officials, the bridge over Business I-85 that was damaged on Tuesday has been temporarily repaired.

DOT crews have opened one lane, in each direction to allow traffic over the bridge. All lanes on Business I-85 that were closed are now open.

With repairs not being permanent, the state DOT is making plans to close the bridge in the future to replace the damaged beams.

On Wednesday, DOT crews began inspecting the Winston Road bridge after a truck crashed into the bridge, damaging three support beams.

Following the accident, state DOT closed I-85 Business South in Lexington and set up a detour to minimize traffic disruptions.
