HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Alan Brown, 17, is headed to the Brazilian JiuJitsu World Championships in California with only three years of experience.

The 167-lb. blue belt is still new to the sport, but he’s already used to competing against adults who have several more years of experience.

The Ultimate Fighting Championships introduced the submission wrestling sport to the U.S. as the Mixed Martial Arts competition grew in popularity.

Brown’s instructor, Steve Snyder, coaches his students at Tiger-Rock Martial Arts International in High Point.
