Newsmaker: Dr. Susan Pauly, Salem Academy and College

As Salem Academy and College marks its 240th anniversary, its leader is trying to balance growing the college with holding onto its traditions.

In the video above, learn about her vision for the traditionally women-only school.

Salem accepts men 23 and older in its continuing education and graduate teacher education program. No men live on campus.

Salem's costs are competitive, with tuition, room and board running a little more than $35,000 a year. Ninety percent of students are on scholarship.

Demand is also high. About 700 apply to get in every year, but the college is only about to accept about 190.
