Police: Taxi driver shot, injured in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A taxi driver was hospitalized after he told police a passenger shot him and ran off Friday morning in Greensboro.

The victim told police he took a man from the Tillman Avenue area to an apartment complex in the 3100 block of Summit Avenue around 12:45 a.m.

The driver said when he told the passenger how much he owed, the suspect pulled out a handgun, shot him and fled the scene.

Officials said the victim called police from the Express Mart at 3101 Summit Avenue. Police said he was taken to the hospital by an ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a light skinned black male, 19 years old, and standing about 5’9.”
