MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Donald Trump will become the owner of an Iredell County country club after a vote Thursday night.

The Charlotte Observer, citing Donald’s son Eric, reported the vote was “overwhelmingly” in favor of the sale of The Point Lake and Golf Club on Lake Norman.

Donald will pay $3 million for the club and rename it Trump National Golf Club, Charlotte. The sale could close next month.

It will be Trump’s first project in the Charlotte area.

Homes at The Point currently sell for more than $1 million. Some opponents worried the deal would raise home prices so much that it would price them out of the neighborhood.

Those in favor of the deal said Trump could make needed improvements to the course and buildings to make it among the best clubs in the area.
