WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A 64-year-old man is in critical condition after a car traveled backward across a parking lot and a four-lane street before colliding with a tree Thursday afternoon.
Richard Gray Reynolds, of Winston-Salem, suffered life-threatening injuries after a wreck around 3:50 p.m. in the 7700 block of North Point Boulevard, Winston-Salem Police said.
Reynolds was in a parking lot trying to get into a car driven by a 76-year-old man, police said. Reynolds wasn’t completely in the car when it started going in reverse, police said.

Reynolds was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver was taken to Wake Forest Baptist with non life-threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the wreck.
