HIGH POINT, N.C. — A Guilford County teacher accused of spraying a third-grader with a water bottle was served with a criminal summons on Wednesday.

Jackson filed assault charges against the teacher on Feb. 13. GCS officials said Tuesday they have already disciplined the teacher.

The school released a statement Wednesday. It read in part, “While this situation is unfortunate, (the school) is and continues to be a special place.”

The statement continues below.

It is important to note that this is a teacher who has served for many years at Johnson Street. She has a tremendous character and is accomplished in her profession. I have children of my own and would not hesitate to place them in her class.
