Dakota Lynn Castner (Cabarrus County Jail)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities have charged a Charlotte-area woman with murder following a fight with another woman.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Dakota Lynn Castner, 22, is being held without bond in the Cabarrus County jail on a murder charge. Deputies arrested Costner around 3 a.m. Tuesday in a wooded area near the crime scene.

It wasn’t immediately known whether Castner had an attorney.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Kadi Ann Paden of Concord.

Sheriff Brad Riley said Castner and the victim got into a fight Monday night. Riley said Castner pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck outside a mobile home near Concord.

The victim ran into the backyard of her home and died at the scene.
