Salisbury man wrestles gun from intruder, kills suspect
SALISBURY, N.C. — A Salisbury man reportedly shot and killed a home intruder after taking the suspect’s weapon.
Police said 23-year-old Marlon Barber walked into Jack Javis’ house on North Lee Street and demanded money at gunpoint around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Javis started fighting with Barber and was able to wrestle the suspect’s gun away. Javis then reportedly shot Barber in the chest.
Barber ran to another house, where he was pronounced dead by authorities, police said.
Javis was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries to his face.
Police are trying to figure out if the two men knew each other.
