King residents to discuss cutting police force tonight

KING, N.C. — King residents will have a chance to discuss a city councilman’s idea for eliminating the police department on Monday night. 

King Councilman Brian Carico said he brought up the idea of dismantling the King Police Department last week after residents brought up big city spending concerns.  The police department takes up the biggest portion of the budget.

Many residents have expressed concerns over the idea, which will be discussed from 6 to 8 p.m. at a public meeting at the King Public Library.
