Second suspect charged in deadly Burlington apartment robbery

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an apartment robbery that left a 21-year-old woman dead last weekend in Burlington.

Andrew Napoleon Brown, 23, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of Brittany Jernigan, who was shot during a robbery at 1408 Stout St. shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from police.  She was pronounced dead after being taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center, police said.

Brett Allen Cole, 22, turned himself in to Burlington Police in connection with the incident shortly after it happened, police said.

Cole and Brown have each been charged with first-degree murder.  Both suspects are being held in the Alamance County Jail without bond.

Jernigan was the only one shot during the robbery, police said.
