Police say three teen girls stole a car at gunpoint, then led officers on a chase through Charlotte’s busy Uptown streets before crashing the vehicle.

Investigators said the three girls carjacked a driver around 7:30 p.m. Friday, and a state trooper saw the stolen vehicle a short time late on Interstate 77.

The girls sped off as the trooper tried to pull them over, getting off the interstate and heading through Uptown Charlotte.

Police say two cars were hit before the chase ended when the girls crashed into a tree not far from Time-Warner Arena.

Authorities say two of the girls were arrested, while a third ran away. Police have not released their names.
