DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Troopers say a man may have been intoxicated when he crossed the center line in a deadly crash Sunday night in Davidson County.

Andrew Gene Eckhoff, 32, died in the wreck, which happened on Friendship-Ledford Road near Anderson Road around 8 p.m.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, Eckhoff was driving east on Friendship-Ledford Road when he crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming SUV.

The driver of the SUV — Urbano Pelaez, 52, of Winston-Salem — and his two passengers — Leonor Banosrojas, 51, and Priscilla Mejia, 5 — were each taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Banosrojas was in critical condition as of Sunday night and Mejia was in fair condition. Pelaez’ condition was not available.

Troopers said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
