Man Charged in High Point Bank Robbery

A man accused of robbing a bank in High Point Saturday afternoon was arrested shortly after the crime.

Don Loverne McCarter, 61, allegedly entered the Bank of America at 501 N. Main St. around 12:10 p.m. and presented a note demanding money.

Police said he fled the scene after receiving an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said an officer found the suspect coming out of bushes near the intersection of S. Elm Street and Church Avenue and arrested him.

Police said the money was returned to the bank. Other details were not released.
