Police: Winston-Salem man stabbed over card game

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A suspect turned himself in after police said he stabbed another man during a dispute over a card game as most people were ringing in the New Year in Winston-Salem.

Ervin Cannady II, 20, was stabbed multiple times at 151 Weatherwood Court around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release.

Cannady was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Police said his wounds are serious, but not life-threatening.

Witnesses told police that the victim was stabbed during a dispute after a card game.

The suspect, Jarvoshus Oneal Malone, 23, called police and turned himself in shortly after the incident, police said.

Malone was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. He was jailed in Forsyth County under a $150,000 bond.
