Police: Woman chases burglar out of Burlington home

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A man tried breaking into a home but was chased out by a woman Tuesday in Burlington, according to police.

Police say the man tried kicking in the backdoor of an apartment in the 400 block of Elmira St. at about 9 p.m.

Police say Jennifer Budniewski, 25, was in her bedroom at the time and heard a loud noise.

The suspect started running out the backdoor he kicked down as soon as he saw her, police said.

Police say Budniewski chased him out. He was last seen on foot running southeast toward Tillman Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, 16-18 years old, 5’6″ and 145-155 pounds. He wore a red hooded sweatshirt, a thick black coat and black pants.

A composite image of the suspect has been provided. About $250 of damage was caused to the door.
