FRANKFORT, KY — Two people accused of robbing an Asheboro bank at gunpoint on Dec. 2 were arrested Tuesday in Kentucky.

Jonathan Buell, 20, of Asheboro, and April Hope Hays, 26, of Kentucky, were charged by the Kentucky State Police in Frankfort on fugitive and armed robbery warrants.

Buell is accused of entering the RBC Centura Bank at 1427 East Dixie Drive with a rifle at about 4:30 p.m.

Police say he left with an undisclosed amount of money after demanding cash. Officials said he could have possibly been with another male and female during the robbery.

The suspects fled the bank in a white 2006 Chevy pickup that was later reported stolen from Lassiter Mill Road in Randolph County.

Buell and Hays face charges of being fugitives from another state, receiving stolen property over $10,000 and possessing drug paraphernalia, marijuana and a controlled substance.

Both were placed in the Graves County Jail in Kentucky. Further details were not provided.
